Unbenannt-2.jpg

Hard Boiled Limited Edition 4K UHD und Limited Edition BD!

Herstellungsland: Hongkong
Erscheinungsjahr: 1992
Darsteller: Chow Yun-Fat, Anthony Wong. Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Teresa Mo, Philip Chan, Philip Kwok,, Bowie Lam
Regie: John Woo

Hard Boiled Limited Edition 4K UHD

In the 80s and 90s, director John Woo would cement his reputation as a master of action films with classics like A Better Tomorrow, The Killer and Bullet in the Head. This would culminate in 1992 with the release of his masterpiece Hard Boiled, the hyperkinetic, hyperviolent exemplar of the Heroic Bloodshed genre.

Iconic actor Chow Yun-Fat (City on Fire) stars as Tequila, a gung-ho cop working to bring down Johnny Wong (Anthony Wong, Infernal Affairs), the villainous triad boss who maintains a stranglehold on Hong Kong’s illegal gun trade. Johnny attempts to recruit Ah-Long (Tony Leung, Bullet in the Head), an assassin from a rival syndicate, just as the insubordinate Tequila gets taken off the case. Taking justice into his own hands, Tequila tracks Ah-Long down and uncovers an intricate web of deception that threatens to boil over into all-out war.

A fiery coalescence of electrifying performances, elaborate narrative and operatic gunfights, Hard Boiled has rightly been exalted as the undisputed champion of Hong Kong action films, ready to unleash a hail of bullets anew in this stunning restoration exploding with extras.

killer4k.jpg

Herstellungsland: Hongkong
Erscheinungsjahr: 1989
Darsteller: Chow Yun-Fat, Danny Lee, Sally Yeh, Paul Chu Kong, Kenneth Tsang, Shing Fui-On, Tommy Wong Kwong-Leung
Regie: John Woo

The Killer Limited Edition 4K UHD

Fresh from the success of the first two A Better Tomorrow films, in 1989 action maestro John Woo would unleash The Killer, a spectacular blend of explosive gunfights and dramatic performances, including the magnetic Chow Yun-Fat in one of his most memorable roles.

Ah Chong (Chow Yun-Fat) is a hitman whose latest job takes a wrong turn when, during a shootout at a lavish nightclub, he accidentally blinds singer Jennie by firing his gun too close to her eyes. Racked with remorse, Ah Chong decides to retire from his life of crime and help Jennie get a cornea transplant. But when Ah Chong's rancorous former boss betrays him, Ah Chong receives an unexpected helping hand from hot-headed police detective Lee Ying (Danny Lee, City on Fire).

An international sensation, The Killer put Woo on the radar of genre fans the world over and inspired waves of imitators, but none that could outclass it.

The Dollars Trilogy (Italien, Spanien, Deutschland / 1964 - 1965 - 1966)

dollartrilogy.jpg

Herstellungsland: Italien, Spanien, Deutschland
Erscheinungsjahr: 1964 - 1965 - 1966
Darsteller: Clint Eastwood, Gian Maria Volonte, Lee Van Cleef, Eli Wallach
Regie: Sergio Leone

Arrow Video:

A Fistful of Dollars wasn't the first spaghetti western, but the genre was never the same again after Sergio Leone's audacious breakthrough. Starring Clint Eastwood in the role that made him an international icon, the film introduces a nameless stranger who rides into a Mexican border town torn apart by a vicious power struggle between two rival families, the Baxters and the Rojos. His only chance of escape is a standoff against the latter's merciless leader, Ramón (Gian Maria Volonté).

With For a Few Dollars More, Leone expanded the canvas of his mythic, feverish vision and refined his unmistakable signature. Two rival bounty killers (Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef) hunt the same target: the psychopathic bandit "El Indio" (Volonté). Forming an uneasy alliance, the pair infiltrate El Indio's gang... but as greed begets violence, the hunters become the hunted, leading to a final showdown in a circle of death.

Leone's trilogy concludes with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, a violent, picaresque epic of operatic scale. When Blondie (Eastwood) and the treacherous Tuco (Eli Wallach) learn of a buried cache of Confederate gold, they are drawn into a desperate race against Angel Eyes (Van Cleef), a ruthless mercenary with his own twisted code of honour. Set against the devastation of the American Civil War, their pursuit builds to one of cinema's most iconic three-way standoffs, bringing Leone's grand sense of dramatic scale to its apotheosis.

Arrow Films is proud to present this landmark Western trilogy in the most comprehensive edition ever assembled, all meticulously restored in glorious 4K, with a wealth of new and archival bonus materials.
